Coordination with the Sakai Community

T-Square comes out of a collaboration with other institutions in the open source Sakai community. Georgia Tech's relationship with the Sakai community is one of enlightened self-interest: the success of the Sakai community is important for our own success, as we share risks and burdens across the consortium, and we get back more in the way of product improvements than we give. While we have freedom to pursue our own needs, it is not in our interest to diverge too far from the product and processes of the Sakai community, or we end up undermining the efficiencies of a broad open source community. Our strategy then must be to look for alignment with consensus-based, shared solutions, striking up strategic partnerships with other peer institutions wherever possible.

Director of Educational Technology

Clay Fenlason manages and directs the IT resources dedicated to T-Square, and also sits on the Board of Directors of the Sakai Foundation. He serves on both the governing board and priorities committee ex officio, and thus stands as liaison and coordinator for all the various units and organizations that contribute to T-Square.
