Uploading Multiple Files Via WebDAV

Return to the General Usage FAQ Menu | Return to the Worksite Tools FAQ Menu

T-Square provides support for the WebDAV protocol, allowing you to use a WebDAV client on your local computer to upload (or download) files to the Resources area of your course or project worksite. One of the main benefits of transferring files with a WebDAV client is that you can easily upload or download a group files at one time.

To access your worksite via a WebDAV client, you will have to know the connection URL, which will include your site ID. The connection URL looks like this:

  https://t-square.gatech.edu/dav/siteID

To determine the connection URL for your worksite, go into your worksite in the T-Square web interface, go to the 'Resources' tool, and select the 'Upload-Download Multiple Resources' tab. You will see your connection URL listed in bold type just above the heading "Setting up a WebDAV client on your computer".

Below is a list of possible clients that you can use to connect to T-Square via WebDAV from the three major operating system platforms. If you are a Macintosh user, please note that Goliath does not work with T-Square, even though it is listed on the 'Upload-Download Multiple Resources' tab. We are working to get the Goliath information removed from that page -- in the meantime, please see the list of possible Mac OS X clients listed below.

Please note that the following listing is provided as a courtesy, and neither OIT nor the T-Square Support team endorse or provide support for any of the third-party products listed below. OIT does provide a limited amount of support for the WebDAV clients that are built into the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. You may contact the OIT Support Center for additional help with using them.

Windows Clients

  • Windows 2000, XP, and Vista all have WebDAV clients (known as "Web Folders") built into Windows Explorer. Do note that a patch may be required for Windows Vista and in some cases Windows XP.
  • Novell Netdrive - Google "Novel Netdrive download" and pick one of the dozens of locations where it is available for download
  • Data Freeway - freeware, non-open-source
  • CrossFTP - runs as a WebStart Java App - freeware, non-open-source
  • AnyClient - runs as a WebStart Java App or a downloadable client- freeware, non-open-source
  • cadaver - command line client - requires CygWin - open-source freeware

Mac OS X Clients

  • Your best bet is the built-in Mac OS X WebDAV client. Simply select "Go-->Connect to Server" on the Finder menu bar, or press 'AppleKey'-K while the Finder is your active program. Search for "WebDAV" in the "Mac Help" tool for more information
  • CrossFTP - runs as a WebStart Java App - freeware, non-open-source
  • AnyClient - runs as a WebStart Java App or a downloadable client- freeware, non-open-source
  • cadaver - command line client - open-source freeware
  • Do not use Goliath! Even though the help built into T-Square mentions Goliath, it does not work properly with the version of T-Square we are currently running. Instead, try one of the other WebDAV client options listed above.

UNIX/Linux Clients

  • The KDE Desktop for Linux natively supports WebDAV connections
  • CrossFTP - runs as a WebStart Java App - freeware, non-open-source
  • AnyClient - runs as a WebStart Java App or a downloadable client- freeware, non-open-source
  • cadaver - command line client - open-source freeware
