FAQ: Tests & Quizzes

Why can't students see the quiz I published?
Most likely, the available dates are not correct
How can I release a quiz to just one student?
Unfortunately, you cannot release a quiz to just one student. As a workaround you can put a High Security ID and Password on a quiz (or copy of a quiz) and only give that ID and password to the one student.
Can I download all the quiz responses at one time?
You cannot download all responses for all questions all at once. However, you can view and download the answers/statistics on a question by question basis.
Can I change a quiz after I publish it?
Unfortunately, the way Tests & Quizzes is designed, you cannot modify a published quiz or test - you can only retract it, which hides it from student access. To change the configuration of a quiz that you have published, you would have to retract it and then release a new copy with the appropriate changes. Because this change is very disruptive, it is best not to change a quiz once it has been taken by any of your students.
Will test and quiz scores appear in the Gradebook?
Whether or not grades will appear in your gradebook is determined by the setting "Grading->Gradebook Options->Grades sent to Gradebook". You must select this option on each assessment to have the grades for that assessment appear in the Gradebook.
Can I use the test bank that my publisher has given me?
Probably. Contact CETL for more information. Each test bank is unique and some may need to be converted before they can be uploaded into T-Square.
How can I prevent cheating?
You cannot ever completely prevent cheating, but you can make cheating more difficult. You can make cheating less important and you can proctor quizzes. You can use timed tests, randomize questions when possible, give different tests each term and for each section you teach, use tests only for practice, give take home tests, etc. For more ideas and suggestions, feel free to contact CETL.
How much time should I give for a test?
This really depends on the question types you are using. For example, multiple choice questions are easier for students to answer than short answer questions. Give one or more practice exams to see how long students take. Also be sure to allow extra time for technical glitches.
What do I do if a student says his computer froze or died during a quiz?
In the world of online testing, there can be all kinds of technical failures that have nothing to do with T-Square. There can be power outages, network failures, computer crashes, etc. The best thing you can do is to create a standard policy for your classes to deal with this kind of problem. For example, have a substitute exam ready that will be given in person that is different from the online exam.
Can I regrade an exam?
No. You will have to manually alter/override the grade if you decide to drop any questions that are not complete.
How can I take my own test or quiz?
There is a preview option that allows you to view the test or quiz, but not actually take it. To take one of your own tests or quizzes, create a guest account for yourself, add it as a student in your course, and then take the assessment. This is the only way to be certain that everything is correct and working before releasing it to the students.
